September - In September, we talked a lot about Servant-Leadership and had an overall summary of all the different events we will be doing this year. I really got an understand of what servant-leadership is like and what are plans are going to be for this year. This was a great start to my Servant-Leadership journey!
October - In October, our main discussion focused on what makes a great leader and how to develop into one. During the various activities we did, I learned about the ABCs of leadership and how you have to feel uncomfortable at times to be able to learn and grow not only as a leader, but as a person. I feel that this month's topic was an amazing topic to start on because it gave me a complete understanding of what a true leader is.
November - In November, our main focus was on having hope! This month's meeting was super enjoyable because the group activities were all about finding the hope yourself and in others. I learned so many new ways to view hope and got to truly understand what hope really is. I also loved how our presenter, Tia Heimerdinger, told us her hope story, because it got me thinking about all the times I've had to have hope in my life and how it helped the situation in the end.
December - In December, we discussed a topic I never thought would be so beneficial in learning to be the best leader you can. We discussed negotiation, but understanding all side and how to negotiate to meet the majority of people's needs. This month was super fun for me because we all got split up into groups of three and got to listen/work with two other strangers to complete the tasks that were asked. I really enjoyed meeting new people this month and learning how to work well with others during a negotiation process.
January - In January, our main focus was to be your true self and remember that you matter. In life, people will come and go, but you have to remember to be yourself and have courage.
February - In February, our main discussion was how to communicate correctly and efficiently. This was a very important lesson because good communication is what all great leaders have. The one thing that really stuck in my brain after this meeting was that we have two ears and one mouth for a reason, so we can listen twice to the amount of talking we do.
March - In March, we learned about the importance of teamwork and using different people's attributes in certain situations. I learned the importance of making decisions after weighing out all of our options and using everyone's strengths to get the job done.
April - In April, we packed meals for Hearts and Hands for Hunger and got to celebrate the last Servant Leadership meeting of the 25-26 school year. This meant that we wrapped up our year by serving those who need it most and celebrating the amazing things we have done this year!
